Jill + Riley | Married!

Not every love story follows a traditional path — and honestly, that’s what made Riley and Jill’s wedding so special. With Jill living in North Carolina and Riley here in Idaho, we didn’t get the chance to do an engagement session or meet in person beforehand like I normally do with TRP couples. But when she was in town and we met up for coffee to talk all things wedding, the moment we hugged hello, I knew the day was going to unfold beautifully.

And it did — in the simplest, sweetest, most meaningful way.

Jill is one of the most resilient brides I’ve worked with. Planning a wedding long-distance, navigating two states, blending families — she handled it all with so much grace. Watching her step into this new chapter with Riley, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them, was incredibly special to witness.

A Calm, Simple Start at the Idaho Botanical Garden

Unlike the usual wedding-day timeline, Riley and Jill didn’t plan a morning of getting ready photos. Instead, they chose to start their day with a first look right inside the Idaho Botanical Garden.

No bridal party.
No rushing.
Just the two of them in a quiet garden corner at 11:30am.

It set the tone for the entire day — calm, relaxed, and meaningful. The gardens were peaceful, the light was beautiful, and every backdrop was a photographer’s dream.

A Ceremony in the Meditation Garden

Their Christian ceremony took place in the Meditation Garden, one of my favorite spots within the Idaho Botanical Garden. Surrounded by trees, stone paths, and soft natural light, the space felt intimate and grounding — the perfect place to say “I do.”

The ceremony lasted around 20–30 minutes, followed by signing the marriage license, family portraits, and one quiet moment I was honored to capture: a discreet photo of the tribute to Riley’s father, who passed away in February. They didn’t want to draw attention to it publicly, but they wanted the moment documented with care — and it was.

A Cozy Reception at Chandler’s

After portraits, the celebration continued at Chandler’s Prime Steaks & Seafood, where Jill and Riley hosted their reception in a private room at Hotel 43. With around 36 guests, it was intimate, relaxed, and centered around good conversation, great food, and simply being together.

There wasn’t a formal dance floor or big program — just a warm, meaningful afternoon celebrating their new marriage. Chandler’s handled the catering and service beautifully, creating an effortless experience for every guest.

Why Brides Love the Idaho Botanical Garden

If you’re a future bride considering an Idaho Botanical Garden wedding, here’s why it’s such a great choice:

✔ Endless photo opportunities

Every corner of the garden looks different — ponds, bridges, stone walkways, flowers, tall grasses, garden structures — giving you tons of variety without driving anywhere.

✔ Intimate + peaceful setting

Even though it’s minutes from downtown Boise, it feels private and quiet, which makes the entire day feel more intentional.

✔ Perfect for small + medium-sized weddings

Whether you’re hosting 20 people or 150, the Garden has flexible spaces that work beautifully.

✔ Flattering natural light for every part of the day

From first look locations to shady pathways to open lawns, the Garden has some of the most photographer-friendly light in Boise.

✔ Great for couples wanting simplicity without sacrificing beauty

You don’t need elaborate décor — the venue truly speaks for itself.

A Final Note

Riley & Jill — thank you for choosing me to document your day, even without the usual engagement session or lead-up we often get. Your wedding was intentional, heartfelt, simple, and so full of love. I’m grateful I got to capture it all and tell a small piece of your story.

Wishing you both the happiest beginning to this new chapter. 💛
