Some sessions just remind you exactly why you do what you do. Even on the days when you’re not feeling 100%, Lauren and Colby had a way of lifting my spirit and making everything worth it. Their Camel’s Back Park engagement session was exactly that—a breath of fresh air, full of genuine smiles, sweet moments, and so much love.
These two came so prepared. Not only did they read my engagement session style guide, but they nailed it. Neutrals? Check. Long, flowing dress that catches the light perfectly? Check. Easy-going attitude and up-for-anything joy? Double check.
We explored the winding paths and open spaces of Camel’s Back Park, laughing between shots and soaking in that golden light that finally came out at the end. There was a calm sweetness to their energy—the kind that comes from years of shared adventures and quiet, everyday connection.
Their story starts with a not-so-great margarita at Jalapeños in Boise (don’t worry, they still had fun!), and takes a magical turn during a spontaneous trip to a hockey game that ended up being the moment Lauren knew she could really like Colby. Since then, they’ve made a life full of travel, church, mini golf, action movies, and lots of laughter together.
They describe themselves as adventurous homebodies—basically the best of both worlds. Whether they’re traveling across the world or cozying up at home with “How I Met Your Mother” (excluding the last five episodes, obviously), they’re happiest just being together.
And their engagement? Colby proposed on St. Patrick’s Day 2024—how fun is that?
Lauren loves Colby’s sweet sense of humor and how deeply he listens. Colby loves Lauren’s love for animals and the way she’s opened up his world to new food and places. Together, they’re the kind of couple who makes you believe in the quiet magic of everyday love.
This session was such a joy to photograph, and I’m so glad I rallied for it—because getting to capture these moments for Lauren and Colby was so worth it. I can’t wait to see these two tie the knot and celebrate with the people they love (and yes, eat cake—because they’re just as excited for that too).
Lauren & Colby—thank you for the gift of your story and for trusting me to capture this special season. You two are a reminder that love is equal parts adventure, laughter, and choosing each other every day.
Cheers to your forever! 🥂
Here are just a few of my fave’s from their session!
