Today I wanted to share three tips for setting up a Wedding Styled Shoot. As a new photographer, styled shoots can be extremely helpful in building the type of portfolio you want. The Wedding Styled shoot below was shot in Oahu, HI this past June. Isaac and I had selected Oahu for our annual vacation, so it was the perfect opportunity to coordinate a beach themed styled shoot; something I’ve dreamed of doing.    Below are three tips for anyone looking to setup their own Styled Shoot:

1. – Get an account with Model Mayhem (www.modelmayhem.com) – it’s FREE to join. Model Mayhem is a member site where you can post “casting calls” for models for a specific type of shoot you want to do. Once I registered for an account I posted a casting call for a male and female model and described in my posting what type of shoot it was and what I was looking for. I received lots of interest, even after specifying that was a TF compensation shoot (Time for Pic’s).

2. – Select the look via www.renttherunway.com! Rent the Runway is a fashion company that allows customers to select and rent designer type dresses and outfits. The dress shown below is a dress we rented from this site. What’s also great about this site, it you get an extra size for no additional cost! It also comes with a pre-paid return address label for easy returns.

3. – Look up local Wedding Planners, or do what I did, ask your hotel for local recommendations for a florist and/or any other vendors you may need. For this shoot, since we stayed at the Four Seasons Resort, I simply asked the concierge to recommend a local florist so I didn’t have to do all the work. I knew I could trust this resorts recommendations and it saved me so much time.

Below are some of my fave’s from this Styled Shoot!

With Love,

Tina
